Things To Do

1. Review Website: Technology for Writing

The website introduces various technology tools that can support writing of diverse students. Visit websites, watch the videos, and try out tools introduced in the web page.

 

2. Read: Case Story- Using a Graphic Organizer to Support the Writing Process

This case story describes how a teacher uses a digital graphic organizer to help her students with pre-writing. She uses graphic organizers to model pre-writing with her whole class, providing supports for all students. In addition, she uses features of the digital graphic organizer to provide specific supports for individual learners

 

3. Activity: Try Out a Digital Graphic Organizer

Graphic organizers can help students with the pre-writing processes of brainstorming, planning and organizing. Download directions for the Graphic Organizer Activity. You need to take a screen shot of the digital graphic organizer you created and add it to the Weekly Reflection #2.

 

4. Optional:  Read Chapter 2: Assistive Technology to Support Writing (Assistive Technology in the Classroom by Dell, Newton, & Petroff)
